The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecasted that parts of northern Ghana will experience evening thunderstorms and rains as a rainstorm moves in from Benin.
In its 24-hour forecast issued at 5pm on Tuesday, July 16, GMet said observations showed a "rain bearing storm" over northern Benin that is expected to "propagate westwards" into Ghana.
"A rain-bearing storm observed at northern Benin is expected to propagate westwards to affect parts of the northern sector with thunderstorms and rain of varying intensities," reads part of the forecast signed by GMet duty forecaster Prince O. Koduah.
Areas like Wa, Damongo, Nalerigu and Bolgatanga, could experience thunderstorms with rains of 40-60% tonight, with the showers possibly lingering into tomorrow morning, the forecast added.
Ho, Kumasi and Sunyani, according to the forecast, could also face 30-40% chances of evening rains and thunderstorms.
The coast from Axim to Aflao may stay partly cloudy for most of tonight, though patchy morning mist and fog is anticipated tomorrow.
Ghanaians in the storm's projected path are advised to remain alert for potentially heavy downpours and gusty winds this evening.
