2024 Independent presidential candidate Alan Kyeremateng has unveiled plans to tackle the country’s unemployment rate and enhance the healthcare sector.
He says he will create 100,000 jobs for Ghanaian youth by establishing health screening booths across the country.
In a social media post on Monday, July 15, Mr. Kyeremateng, who is the leader of the Movement for Change, said the policy is aimed at providing early screening and detection of lifestyle diseases while also tackling unemployment.
"I will create 100,000 jobs for the youth by establishing Health Screening Booths Across Ghana," stated Mr. Kyeremateng.
The proposed nationwide network of booths would be owned and managed by recent graduates of senior high school and tertiary institutions, according to the Movement for Change leader.
The former Trade Minister explained that the booths would be utilized for "early detection of lifestyle diseases (hypertension, diabetes)" and that the graduate booth operators "will be trained and employed on a Work and Pay basis."
If elected, he says the health screening booth initiative could deliver a major boost to Ghana's healthcare system by facilitating easier public access to screening services while providing gainful employment to 100,000 young Ghanaians.
