Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokua, well known as Vim Lady says she doubts if there will be fairness in the invite extended to musician and politician Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng aka A Plus over his claim that he knows the killer of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
The Ghana Police Service has invited Kwame A Plus to assist with their investigation into the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale.
During a Facebook live broadcast last Friday, A Plus stated, "Me, I know the person who killed Ahmed Suale. I swear to God... I swear by the children I have brought to this world, if you try me, you will conduct a press conference every day."
Given this claim, the police said they are "pleased that Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus) has made indication that he has some information that could assist the ongoing investigation, and he has been invited accordingly."
In a statement released on Monday, July 15, the police noted that A Plus recently claimed on social media to have information about the killers of Ahmed Suale.
Ahmed Suale, a journalist with investigative group Tiger Eye P.I. was shot dead near his home in Madina, Accra, in January 2019.
His murder received widespread condemnation and is believed to be linked to his investigative work on corruption in football, 'the Number 12' documentary.
In reaction, the vocal broadcaster Vim Lady urged Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare not to allow his friendship with A Plus to cloud the fair judgment.
“Invited to the Police HQ? IGP Dampare must prove that his friendship with him will not cloud the investigation #AhmedSuale,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

That's a piece of good advice, but to be honest, this investigation won't go very far. IGP George Dampare can't arrest and prosecute any NPP politician involved in this murder case, since he has too many skeletons in his cupboard himself.
