Organised Labour has called off its indefinite nationwide strike action after an emergency meeting on Monday.
The labour union on Friday issued a press release directing all workers to stay away from work starting Monday, July 15.
The directive was issued to stop Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) from proceeding with the process to sell a 60% stake in four of its hotels to Rock City Hotel Ltd, owned by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Bryan Acheampong.
Following SSNIT’s decision to stop the sale of the Hotels, Organised Labour has today directed all workers to resume work on Tuesday, July 16.
“On Friday, 12th July, 2024, Organised Labour called on all workers to join an indefinite strike action starting from today, Monday, 15th July, 2024 to back its demand for the termination of the process towards the sale of 60% of SNIT's shares in the four hotels.
“In a letter dated 12th July, 2024 (Ref: BC/12/07/2024) SSNIT informed Organised Labour that it has terminated the sale of 60% of its stake in the hotels. At an emergency meeting held today, Monday, 15th July, 2024, Organised Labour has decided to call off the strike. All workers are requested to resume work on Tuesday, 16th July, 2024,” Organised Labour said in its press release.
Meanwhile, Organised Labour has given SSNIT one month to engage them to address all outstanding issues related to the management of pensions of workers.
Failure to do this, Organised Labour has warned that it will advise itself.
