Former PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed, has criticized Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his recent comments praising President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, addressing a charged crowd of NPP members and supporters during his public unveiling on Tuesday, July 9, in Kumasi, asserted that no president in Ghana's history has outperformed President Akufo-Addo.

“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah…no President has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” said Dr. Opoku Prempeh.

Atik Mohammed, however, strongly disagrees with this statement, labeling it as "factually inaccurate."

He argues that President Akufo-Addo's administration is one of “the worst” in Ghana's history, particularly when compared to some previous governments under the Fourth Republic.

“Let’s not even extend it to the Nkrumah era; that’s even too far. Let’s take 1992; can you say Akufo-Addo is the best performing President since 1992?” Atik questioned during his appearance on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.

Atik maintained that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s assertions are flawed, emphasizing that the current administration cannot be considered the best since Ghana's independence.

“These claims cannot be; it’s not true,” he insisted.
