Electoral Commission (EC) has urged the public to disregard videos circulating on social media, purportedly showing voter registration and vote transfer exercises.

Two viral videos on social media appear to show women affiliated with a political party accusing the EC of conducting such activities.

However, the EC has denied these claims, stating that the videos are misleading and false

The EC, in a statement dated July 12, denied the claims, describing them as false. The Commission stated that the allegations are a calculated mischief aimed at tarnishing its image and causing disaffection in the lead-up to the December 2024 General Election.

The EC therefore called on the Ghana Police Service to arrest and prosecute individuals making these false claims, labeling them as dangerous to Ghana’s democratic processes.

“The Electoral Commission has taken note of two videos circulating on social media, depicting two women purporting to be members of a Political Party. Both women falsely accuse the Commission of registering voters and undertaking a Transfer of Votes Exercise.

“The Commission states categorically that both allegations are FALSE. It is obvious that this calculated mischief is aimed at tarnishing the image of the Commission and causing disaffection for the Commission in the lead-up to the General Election in December 2024.

“The Commission finds these allegations dangerous to our democratic processes and we entreat the general public to disregard them. We call on the Ghana Police Service to arrest and prosecute those behind these fabrications as a matter of urgency.”

Go and arrest them by yourself, Jean Mensa. Who arrested you when you failed to appear in the witness box to explain to Ghanaians how you came about those fraudulent election results in 2020? Your cap is almost full so you are not crying for justice, which you'll never get. In 2024, if you repeat what you did in 2016 and 2020, you will know more about the Ghanaians you don't respect and consider fools.

Do you support the GH¢1 fuel levy imposed by government to address the electricity challenges?
