Press Release Afram Plains South NDC unhappy with independent candidate Madam Grace Adiepena
SAT, 13 JUL 2024

The Afram Plains South Constituency Executives and members of the National Democratic Congress are really working hard for a massive win for the Visionary Leader, the incoming President H. E John Dramani Mahama and the Parliamentary Candidate in the person of Hon. Joseph Appiah Boateng JAB 1 come December 7th, 2024.

However, our attention has been drawn to one madam Grace Adiepena, an independent candidate who is using the name of the party in campaigning.

Also, her symbols, colours, and other paraphernalia are presented as though she is still a member of the NDC after declarating herself as an independent candidate for the December elections.

We are unhappy therefore appealing to the party hierarchy at the regional and national level, to invoke article 45 particularly (B) of the NDC constitution which admonishes every member to defend the name of the party and its decisions.

We believe that the name of the party, her symbols and colours solely belongs to it, which must be protected at all-time. Therefore, the actions and inactions of an independent candidate; Madam Grace Adiepena, infringe the patent of the National Democratic Congress, hence, the claim of all damages against her.

Madam Grace Adiepena broke away from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and has decided to contest in the forthcoming Parliamentary Elections in the Afram Plains South Constituency as an independent candidate. She arrived at this decision when she presented herself to contest for the NDC constituency parliamentary Primaries but was disqualified on the vetting day 16th August, 2023 at the regional Office – Koforidua, on the basis of article 41 subsection 8 (b) and (C) – i.e. forgery. Although she appealed to a higher authority in the party, the appeal committee saw her conduct as an anti – party conduct (article 46 (8b)) and has therefore decided to set her aside.

Madam Grace Adiepena, who was not pleased with the party’s decision, connived with some NDC members, including a former constituency chairman, Mr. Awuku Dzobo outdoors her at Ekye Amanfrom on the 30th January 2024 as an independent candidate.

The self-acclaimed NDC independent candidate together with her supporters, have since gone round the constituency, campaigning in the name of the party, using all other party paraphernalia such as NDC branded shirts, the NDC Flag, colours etc. to confuse or convince party members.

As constituency executives, we are also reliably informed that the said candidate has formed an alliance with the NPP in order to split NDC’s vote to unseat the current MP that doubles as the parliamentary candidate. We are therefore cautioning Madam Grace Adiepena and her followers on behalf of our members to desist from using NDC branded Shirts, colours, symbols, paraphernalia and any other property of the party to avoid any legal actions brought against her in any form.

We thank you all for your audience.
Signed.
