A prominent member of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah says a presidential debate between Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, would reveal significant vulnerabilities in Dr. Bawumia's campaign.
Mr. Jantuah contends that during such a debate, Dr. Bawumia would be confronted with fundamental questions about the prices of everyday commodities like tomatoes, onions, and other essential food items.
According to him, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will struggle to answer these questions.
"The debate will expose him. He will be asked how much is food inflation now, how much are tomatoes and onions, what will he say?" Kwame Jantuah quizzed during an engagement on TV3 on Friday.
The conversation of a possible debate between Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama has heightened after the former accused the latter of being scared to face him.
Speaking to supporters of the NPP in Nalerigu on Wednesday, July 10, the Vice President said if the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) dares to meet him man-to-man he will expose him big time.
“I am looking forward to a debate with John Dramani Mahama on the economy and governance but I am afraid he is running away from a debate and his people say he doesn’t want to debate. He says he doesn’t want to debate because he knows that I will expose the emptiness of his policies.
“He says he has a 24-hour economy policy that he cannot explain. It is as empty as an empty barrel. None of his people can explain it and they say they will be exporting lions and elephants,” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said.
He continued, “When we meet man-to-man, we can debate and the country will see where our policies lie and that is where we should go. Give the country an opportunity to listen to us, but if he chooses not to debate, I will continue to sell my policies to the people of Ghana and you will take the decision.”

I suppose we know the constitutional demands of the president, and vice president in the country: with that you should know the limitations of the vice-president. If we could be sincere, for decades, no vice president in the country had been influential and visible than the current one. That said, the situation on the ground now, isn't an easy one, but it isn't peculiar to only Ghana. If one wants to ignore the good additions and great impacts of the Nana-Bawumia administration, can we also pay...
