The recent remarks of the NPP Minister Prempeh also the Running Mate of the NPP Flagbearer Dr. Bawumia, have sparked an outcry in the nation Ghana. Known to the Asantehene, Otumfo Osei Tutu II as Napo, one of his grandsons he has disgraced the mighty Ashanti King sitting on the Golden Stool. President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo months ago publically confessed life in Ghana is very tough for his people and that his successor will fix the nation. Energy Minister Prempeh has further harmed the reputation of his boss the outgoing President.
In his remarks, Minister Prempeh stated the achievements of the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo outweigh the achievements of the first President of Ghana Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. As a Senior Lecturer for African studies at a Hamburg Academy I lecture about European Colonialism and African Independence. They closely follow the current events in Africa and out of personal interest and knowledge I place great emphasis currently on Ghana and Kenya.
When I told them about the outcry in Ghana and what the Running Mate said they laughed their heads off in disbelief. The German elite connected to Africa knows Minister Prempeh is lying as they honor Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for what he had done.
Humans with an exceptional mandate often are seen as untouchable heroes. Yet still they are human beings. During their lifetime or after death, while reflecting on the life of exceptional men and women the blinded eyes can see human faults and shortcomings of their heroes. Some would argue to have done things in a different and better way...but they were not standing in the heat of time and their criticisms can not be proven as a better solution than the one of the proclaimed hero.
Great yet exceptional achievements no matter human weaknesses or misjudgments like "When the black man is finally free he can manage his own affairs" could have been added by the hero when and under which circumstances this destiny would be reached. Out of the moment in the heat of the night of Ghana's independence, the crowd needed to hear such words of encouragement. The reality set in when daylight hit Ghana and the nitty-gritty of democracy hit the nation Ghana.
