A new team of CAF inspectors are expected in Accra in May to assess medical and health facilities available for Ghana 2008.

The team is expected to visit major health posts in the four cities hosting the 26th edition of the continental football fiesta.

Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer for CAN 2008, said the exercise was part of the routine checks on progress of work on facilities ahead of the January 20-February 10, 2008, Nations Cup in Ghana.

He said the inspection of the health/medical facilities was in line with CAF's requirement that host countries of such major tournaments as the Nations Cup were developed to meet a particular standard.

Mr Danquah, who spoke to the Daily Graphic in Lome last Sunday, was in the Togolese capital at the weekend to confer with officials of the continent's football controlling body.

He said other inspections to be arranged in subsequent months would be to assure CAF of Ghana's comitment and readiness to host and stage a showpiece event.

CAF's inspection teams have been in and out of Ghana on many ocasions since the country won the rights to host the tournament.
