It Is Dr. NAPO Over Prof. Jane Naana, Any Day

Feature Article It Is Dr. NAPO Over Prof. Jane Naana, Any Day
TUE, 09 JUL 2024 LISTEN

Today, Tuesday, 9th July, 2024 is another very important day for the New Patriotic Party as the Flag Bearer of the party, H. E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia unveils his running mate for the 2024 general elections. The running mate of the Flag Bearer, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is not a novice in politics. He has been a member of Parliament since 2009 and as well served as a Minister of Education under President Nana Addo. Fortunately, his counterpart on the other side, Prof. Jane Naana also served as Education Minister under former President John Mahama and it is therefore easy to compare their performance as Education Ministers.

1. Dr. NAPO presided over the implementation of the flagship FSHS policy but same cannot be said by Prof Jane Naana as she and her boss claim of introducing free day Senior High School has recently been exposed. The NDC tagged the idea of FSHS then as 419.

2. Dr. NAPO presided over massive infrastructural development in the education sector across the nation as a result of increased enrollment of students due to the implementation of the FSHS policy. Prof. Jane Naana failed to complete their big promise of building 200 community day Senior High Schools. They could not even complete half of the schools they promised to build.

3. It is not also hidden to Ghanaians that Dr. NAPO's tenure as education Minister saw massive employment in the education sector whiles under Prof. Jane Naana employment was a 'crime' under her watch. She and her boss were clueless in employing Ghanaians into many sectors including education.

4. Dr. NAPO restored the very teacher trainee allowances Prof. Jane Naana and John Mahama cancelled.

5. Dr. NAPO abolished the three months salary arrears pay policy for teachers brought in by Prof. Jane Naana and teachers can now enjoy all the months' salary arrears they deserve and labour for.

6. Dr. NAPO also ensured that the salary arrears that were denied teachers by Prof. Jane Naana were duly paid to them

7. Dr. NAPO had the welfare of teachers at heart and for the first time in the teaching profession, professional development allowance was introduced. Thanks to Dr. NAPO. Prof Jane Naana, a retired teacher, never saw the need to do that for teachers.

8. Before NPP came to power, Prof. Jane Naana introduced payment of utility bills by students in all public universities in Ghana. Yes, she did that without any sympathy to public university students and their guardians. Under Dr. NAPO as an Education Minister, that policy was abolished and public university students no longer pay utility bills. This policy was introduced by Prof. Jane Naana at the time Ghanaians were suffering under Dumsor.

9. Under the leadership of Dr. NAPO, book and research allowances for university lecturers were increased by 200%. Prof. Jane Naana never thought the lecturers deserve that.

10. Students in second cycle institutions are no longer sacked from exam hall for non-payment of exam fees due to absorption of the fees by government. Parents and guardians are grateful to this government and Napo for alleviating their burden. Under the watch of Prof. Jane Naana, we saw students sacked from exam hall for non-payment of exam fees.

11. Finally, if you are asked under whose tenure as Education Minister common pieces of chalk were not available for teaching and learning, you will not hesitate to say Prof. Jane Naana.

Per the above evidence, the difference between the two running mates is obviously clear, and one can comfortably and humbly conclude that Dr. NAPO is a better manager and competent, hence, he is preferred to Prof. Jane Naana any day to do excellent job for Ghana.
