Akufo Addo - Bawumia Shouldn’t Wait Too Long To Start Packing Out From The Flagstaff House

To the best of my knowledge, Ghanaians are not stupid enough to accept a failed government's presentation of a president and his running partner as representatives to serve the country. Mahamudu Bawumia and Matthew Opoku Prempeh taking office as president and vice president is something that will never happen unless the elections are rigged and since that will result in violence, I would like to advise the NPP government that they should begin packing out of the government’s office.

The NPP administration has been dishonest to Ghanaians. They tricked people into believing they could replace Mahama's government and make Ghana the “Dubai of Africa,” by alleging he was corrupt and incompetent. They also made up the story that they took over the state coffers that were empty in 2017. Akufo-Addo declared on January 17, 2018, that his administration had assumed control of an economy that was faltering because of high levels of debt and had shaky macroeconomic underpinnings.

The vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia, similarly announced on January 15, 2018, that despite taking over a highly indebted economy, they had paid off 1.45 billion cedis in less than two years. These are false claims that made the NPP distrustful liars. He continued by saying that they paid the debt of GHC 3.1 billion left by the previous government and supported by tribal media, they spread false information that Akufo-Addo took over an extremely indebted economy from the Mahama administration.

All of these allegations were surprisingly proven false when Mahama disclosed in January 2017 how much money his government had left in state coffers for Nana Akufo-Addo and his administration. He added that the government's proceeds from the sale of 950,000 tons of cocoa, plus an extra $200 million to the Ghana Infrastructure Development Fund and 700 million cedis to the Road Fund, went to Nana Akufo-Addo. Today, the NPP government is responsible for a debt of GH658.6 billion.

After causing so much harm, it is unacceptable to support a government that pledged to improve living conditions. More importantly, no intelligent government would collaborate with the governor of the Bank of Ghana to print money illegally in the hopes that this would support the economy. It was a massive corruption scandal and more importantly, it’s only an incompetent government would use more to destroy banking institutions, than the amount to save them.

In addition to the government’s role in the collapse of the economy, businesses, and investments, the NPP has harmed Ghanaians by pushing them to extreme poverty, as I discovered and documented when I visited the country last year. I also went to the Takoradi harbor to look into the impact of how pervasive corruption has affected imports and exports and did an investigation about how illegal mining has ruined the major rivers. Since all of my findings were published, there is no need to repeat them.

The NPP has lost the trust and support of the public as a result of Akufo Addo abusing his position, breaking the law, working with the head of the Election Commission to violate the law, and appointing numerous judges to the Supreme Court to exclusively represent the NPP. This means that the only advice I can give them is to start leaving Flagstaff House, as Ghanaians will not allow them to rig this year’s presidential race.
