The National Women’s Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw, in what appears to be an unnecessary show of disrespect and arrogance, declined to sit in and contribute to a LIVE studio discussion on JoyPrime’s morning show on Tuesday June 2, 2024.

The NDC’s women’s leader lambasted the producers and host of the show for inviting whom she perceived to be a lower-ranked officer (Deputy National Women’s Organiser) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Safia Mohammed to join the studio discussion instead of the substantive National Women’s Organiser, Madam Kate Gyamfuah.

Just after the host, Ms. Roselyn Felli was done introducing the topic for discussion, “Evaluating the role of party women’s organiser in winning election 2024”, Dr. Hannah Bissiw dropped the bombshell. Her seemingly coded rage according to a piece of information gathered, emanates from a personal score she had had with the NPP Deputy National Women’s Organiser in one of their meetings with the National Peace Council.

It was quite obvious that Dr. Hannah Bissiw only meant to show class or use her position to demean Hajia Safia Mohammed who is also the current National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

“Unfortunately, this morning I want to disappoint you and your station, but with lots of respect to the Deputy Women’s Organiser of the NPP. When you invited me, I was told I was going to meet with my counterpart, Madam Kate Gyamfuah. I do have two able deputies who could have come equally. But not until I came in here this morning, I didn’t know I was going to meet with a deputy women organiser of the NPP,” she fumes.

She further indicated that she would be present only when her colleague National Women’s Organiser is present. “Next time if the deputy is coming, I have two deputies and when you ask, I can delegate one of them,” she stressed.

Dr. Hannah Bissiw also said, “I am the National Women’s Organiser of the NDC and I meet with the National Women’s Organiser of the NPP”.

Even though the host of the show, Roselyn Felli on behalf of the station apologized to Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw, that still did not please her to sit in the programme.

Some of the viewers of the show including one Opeimu Woyome expressed disappointment in the conduct of the NDC National Women’s Organiser saying, “Such clueless and arrogant characters seeking to be given the mandate to govern us. Even in opposition, Hannah Bissiw is this arrogant”.

However, the NPP Deputy Women’s Organiser, Hajia Safia Mohammed maintained a good composure throughout the show, and was able to articulate her views effectively.
