KNUST Senior Staff Association lauds Universitys Council for retaining Prof Rita Akosua Dickson as VC

The local chapter of the Senior Staff Association - Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has commended the University's Council for retaining Professor Rita Akosua Dickson as Vice Chancellor.

National Chairman of SSA-UoG and Chairman of the KNUST local chapter, Mr. George Ansong, praised the Council's decision, describing it as a win for the university.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, Mr. Ansong expressed optimism that Professor Dickson will once again live up to expectations.

"Professor Rita Akosua Dickson has indeed delivered in her first term as the University's Vice Chancellor, exceeding our expectations. We are ready to work with her again," he said.

The Chairman highlighted the Vice Chancellor's open-door policy, which has fostered a sense of unity and improved the University's performance.

"She is always accommodating, making her an excellent leader for the school," Mr. Ansong added.

He also noted that the Vice Chancellor's vision to make KNUST one of the best universities in the world aligns with the association's core vision, and they fully support her leadership.

Council's Announcement
On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the governing board of KNUST announced the renewal of Professor Rita Akosua Dickson's appointment as Vice Chancellor.

Her new term, lasting for two years, will begin on August 1, 2024, and end on July 31, 2026.

In a statement signed by Registrar A. K. Boateng, the Council explained that this decision follows a recommendation by a committee.

The release further added, "Consequently, Council has renewed the appointment of Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson as Vice Chancellor of KNUST for another term of two (2) years, effective August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2026."
