Nana Akomea has criticised the "Hands Off Our Hotels" demonstration that took place in Accra on Tuesday, June 18.
The protest saw hundreds of Ghanaians, including organised labour and leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), marching against the sale of four hotels to Rock City Hotel, a company owned by Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture.
The demonstration became confrontational when the protesters attempted to march to the Jubilee House but were stopped by the police.
Reports indicated that the protesters pelted stones at the police, who reacted with tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
Nana Akomea, the CEO of the State Transport Corporation (STC), expressed his view on the matter during a panel discussion on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.
He questioned the necessity of the protest, pointing out that the organisers had already petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the SSNIT hotel sale.
"I don't see the importance of the demonstration because you, the demonstrators, have already petitioned CHRAJ over the issue," he stated.
