Traditional leaders are the backbone of our societies; I will continue empowering them – Mahama

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has underscored the important role played by traditional leaders in the development of the country.

In a post on Facebook, he said traditional leaders are promoters of peace, unity, and progress.

He said when given the mandate to serve as President at the end of the 2024 General Election, he will implement initiatives that will empower traditional leaders to enhance development of communities.

“It is my strong belief that the chieftaincy institution plays a pivotal role in the development of our communities. Traditional leaders, with their commitment to peace, unity, and progress, are the backbone of our societies.

“I will continue supporting initiatives that empower our traditional leaders and promote community development,” John Dramani Mahama said.

The post was made by the former President on his Facebook page after stopping by the Jakpa palace in Damongo to check on the progress of work on the new meeting area and residential palace for the Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area.

The project is being funded by John Dramani Mahama.
