The Caption on This News Story Was Definitely Wrong, but Knowing Ghanaweb…

I decided to keep this article titled “ ‘Bawumia Is Not Happy’ About His Old Tapes – Nana Akomea” Peacefmonline.com / Ghanaweb.com 6/8/24), so that I could, once again, slam my Akyem-Asiakwa next-door neighbor from Akyem-Nsutam, I am reliably informed, for putting the widely presumed Next President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana in such a strategically inadvisable light of the sort that is much relished by the nation-wrecking leadership of the country’s main opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), so-called). Until Sincerely Yours did a quick double-take and arrived at the sobering realization that no proper context had been given by the Peace-FM newswriter or reporter for the quotation that was so casually being attributed to Nana (Kwabena?) Akomea, Director of the state-owned Intercity State Transport Corporation (STC), who also presently serves as a Deputy Chairperson of the 2024 Mahamudu Bawumia Presidential Campaign.

Actually, the man who once scandalously hitched his wagon to the practically dead star of the politically desperate National Democratic Congress’ apparatchiks to demonstrate against Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, the Senior Adviser to President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, because the Akyem-Awisa native had dared to alert Ghanaian citizens and voters to the glaring fact that almost the entire leadership of the most vitriolic and kleptocratic and kleptomaniacal NDC operatives – the Dear Reader should forgive me for such infelicitous use of language – hailed from areas of the country that were not known to be either mineral rich or significant economic breadbaskets. Which in the characteristically bland and strategically artless words and the opinion of the Agyekum-Kufuor-fired Sports Minister, did not positively or constructively serve the Akufo-Addo and the Mahamudu Bawumia Presidential-Electioneering Campaign in good stead at the time.

Presently, though, I think Yours Truly is strongly inclined to forgive the former Agyekum-Kufuor-appointed Communications Minister because this time around, Nana Akomea was actually fiercely defending Vice-President Bawumia in precisely the way and manner that a progressive-minded Deputy Chairperson of the 2024 Bawumia Presidential Campaign both needs to and ought to be doing, especially if Nana Akomea, this time around, is to get lucky enough to have any significant role to play in a highly likely Bawumia Government and Presidency in the offing.

Even more significant, Nana Akomea raised a very pertinent question which too many Ghanaian citizens and voters appear to direly ignore to their very own detriment in the long run. Which is that even as Vice-President, the Walewale native, from the Akufo-Addo-created North-East Region, has more than amply demonstrated that he is way over and above a far better and administratively competent leader than the self-befuddled Bole-Bamboi native, also from the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, who has already arrogantly told some 35-million-plus Ghanaian citizens and voters that he has absolutely no classmates in the country, besides our two deceased Fourth-Republican Presidents, namely, Messrs. John Evans Atta-Mills and Jeremiah “Jerry” John Rawlings and, of course, our 85-year-old former President John “The Gentle Giant” Agyekum-Kufuor, and the late former Vice-President Ekow Nkensen Arkaah.

Actually, Yagbonwura Okogufuo Kwame Gonja did not categorically name the late former Vice-President Nkensen Arkaah, the man who some claim to have been older than the late Mrs. Victoria Agbotui, mother of the late former President Rawlings, whom the latter once reportedly physically pummeled to near-pulp consistency and almost crushed to death like the bastard son of his mortal enemy. Kwame Gonja absolutely no respect or use for presidential second bananas, which is why to this he does not seem to have forgiven that Ekumfi-Narkwa native and former Tax-Law professor of the University of Ghana for having so cavalierly dared to make him his “Presidential Spare-Tire.” He would also nickname his late prime benefactor as a “Kabɔnga-Kɔtebɔtɔ.” You see, Dear Reader, among the membership of the vanguard ranks of the leadership of the National Democratic Congress, it does not get any better or behaviorally more magnificent than this.

Of course, it is equally amusing to hear the Akufo-Addo-appointed Communications Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who also tag-teamed up with Nana Akomea to demonstrate with the operatives of the National Democratic Congress against Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, comically flirt with the rather quaint and bizarre idea of being paired up with Vice-President Bawumia, as the 2024 Running-Mate of the former Deputy-Governor of the Bank of Ghana. It even puzzles Yours Truly sometimes that unlike Nana Akomea, Ursula, as she is also popularly known and called, got to serve in such a major and a highly sensitive cabinet portfolio. Then again, who said there were no such phenomenon as “Bottom Power!” in the present Akufo-Addo Administration?

Ultimately, though, what is most important to underscore here, even as Nana Akomea does in his 3FM interview with Host Johnnie Hughes – or did in his Thursday, June 6, interview with the latter – is that Vice-President Bawumia is a First-Rate Driver’s Mate (LoL) who has proven himself to be more than worth occupying the Driver’s Seat and the Steering Wheel of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana, as opposed to Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” (I Have Absolutely No Classmates in Ghana” Dramani Mahama, whom nobody recalls having either distinguished himself or creditably acquitted himself as the “Original Driver’s Mate” to the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, by his own insolent and ungrateful testimony against the latter, that is, his own former boss and prime benefactor whom the Ex-Shit-Bomber would accuse, immediately following the abrupt and the epochal passing of the man who had so magnanimously elevated Kwame Gonja to the Presidency, against the retrospectively prophetic advice of the Founding-Father of the National Democratic Congress, to wit, the late former President Jeremiah “Jerry” John Rawlings, Kwame Gonja’s former political mentor in whose government both Mr. Emmanuel Adama Mahama, Kwame Gonja’s own biological father, and the twice-defeated former President Mahama, or The Younger Mahama, had worked under the very same longest-ruling postcolonial Ghanaian leader who had bitterly and angrily described his former kleptomaniacal and European Airbus SE Company Limited Payola-Soliciting and Guzzling “Give Me Vice-President Aliu Mahama’s Former Official Residence As My Compensation for Having Been Royally Trounced by the Legendary Leprechaun of Akyem-Abomosu and Kyebi in the 2016 Presidential Election” Dramani Mahama.

Now, Dear Reader, you see the Reverse Logic of the man who would have Ghanaian voters return him to Jubilee House, a la Kwaku Ananse / Anancy Fashion, so that “I Can Correct My Past Mistakes” on your darn precious little time right here on Planet Earth. I suspect Kwame Gonja has fully and adamantly convinced himself and his captive and equally kleptocratic and megalomaniacal backers that another name for our beloved Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana is the Republic of the Clinically Demented Amnesiacs. Too bad for Yagbonwura Okogufuo Kwame Gonja that we are not. Too bad that the Rawlings-coronated Shit-Bomber has decided to pick on the wrong people and the wrong country of destination.
