Tourism fund to be reviewed by Mahama

Tourism fund to be reviewed by Mahama

Certainly! Tourism funds play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the tourism industry.

Tourism funds often allocate resources to training programmes within the tourism industry. By enhancing the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of individuals involved in tourism, these programmes contribute to improved visitor experiences and increased competitiveness in the sector.

Funds facilitate connections between various components of the tourism value chain. This includes linking tourism businesses with local suppliers, artisans, and other service providers. Such linkages promote economic growth and sustainability within communities.

Tourism funds may collect fees from travellers at airports and other ports, and these fees could contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure and services.

Also, funds support research initiatives aimed at understanding market trends, visitor preferences, and sustainable practices. This knowledge informs decision-making and helps shape policies for the industry’s growth.

Tourism funds could be invested in infrastructure projects such as roads, airports, and accommodations. These developments enhance accessibility and overall tourism experiences.

Funds also allocate resources to conservation efforts, protecting natural habitats, and promoting eco-friendly practices which benefit both visitors and local communities.

Importantly, funds provide financial assistance to small and medium-sized tourism businesses. This support fosters entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic diversification.

In line with this, H.E. John Mahama has pledged to review the tourism fund to ensure that it benefits all stakeholders in the tourism value chain. Speaking at a tourism stakeholders forum, Mahama emphasised the importance of the tourism sector in driving economic growth and job creation in Ghana.

He acknowledged that the tourism fund has not been effectively utilised in the past and promised to make necessary changes to ensure that it benefits the various stakeholders in the industry.

President Mahama also highlighted the need for collaboration between the government, private sector, and local communities to promote sustainable tourism development.

The young man from Bole's commitment to review the tourism fund and ensure that it benefits all stakeholders is a positive step towards harnessing the potential of the tourism sector in Ghana.

And by working together, stakeholders can create a thriving tourism industry that benefits the economy and local communities alike.
