'We’re here talking nonsense while others are conducting research into AI, other fields' — Prophet Oduro reacts to PhD, foreign passport debate

Prophet Kofi Oduro, the head pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, has expressed his disdain over the ongoing debate comparing the value of a foreign passport to a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Ghana.

The pastor criticised the public discourse as futile and misplaced, especially when the world is advancing through significant research in fields like artificial intelligence.

Addressing his congregation, Prophet Oduro emphasised that such arguments are fundamentally flawed and hold no value in terms of one's ultimate purpose or salvation.

He labelled the social media debate as "nonsense" and urged people to focus on more meaningful issues.

"Now, if someone possesses a Dutch passport, does it mean they no longer require education? They are demeaning education. While there are individuals conducting research into artificial intelligence and other areas, we are here talking nonsense," Prophet Oduro stated.

He questioned the essence of having an American or British passport, calling it vanity.

He further emphasised that in the face of death, such material possessions are meaningless and irrelevant to one's spiritual journey.

"What significance does an American or British passport hold? It's all vanity, and I'm indifferent to your opinion. When Ebony passed away, she didn't take her visa-filled passport with her. I've lived overseas and am familiar with how things operate. There are opportunities, but it's not as simple as it seems," he added.

The debate intensified after Prof. Kobby Mensah, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, remarked that pursuing a PhD is not for those in urgent need of employment.

"A PhD is not for the hungry. It is not for gaining employment, nor is it for entrepreneurship. Get that!" Prof. Mensah wrote on Χ.
