Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central has urged Ghanaians to vote for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.

He warned that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) poses a danger if voted into power.

The outspoken MP was addressing supporters at the Kejetia market in Kumasi on Tuesday, June 11, during the campaign tour of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mr Agyapong argued that based on his experience in both politics and business, the NDC cannot be trusted to handle the country's affairs.

"As a businessman and politician, I understand both politics and business. I acknowledge the current hardships, but when you vote, remember that the NDC is not a viable option—they are very dangerous," Mr Agyapong stated.

He cited the Free SHS policy and provision of uniforms for students under the Akufo-Addo government as evidence of how caring the NPP administration is compared to the NDC.

"Be cautious. Under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government, we’ve covered fees under Free SHS and even provided uniforms for your children. Even in developed countries, governments don’t buy uniforms for students. So, I urge all of you to recognise that even developed countries are facing economic crises. Don’t be deceived by false promises. Remember the NDC’s past governance," the MP noted.

In concluding his remark, Mr Agyapong drummed home his call for traders to rally behind Dr Bawumia and the NPP for continuity.

“Let’s all support Bawumia," he urged the crowd of supporters at the market.
