I'll ban your devices from my companies; visitors will have theirs stored in a Faraday cage — Elon Musk 'threatens' Apple over AI installations

Elon Musk announced Monday that he would ban Apple devices from his companies' premises if Apple goes forward with its planned OpenAI integration.

During its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple revealed an update - OpenAI's ChatGPT will be paired with Apple's assistant, Siri.

In a demonstration, Siri suggested that an iPhone user consult ChatGPT for additional dinner recipe ideas, clearly indicating that these new responses were coming from OpenAI's chatbot and advising users to verify important information for accuracy.

Musk reacted to this partnership on X, stating that employees and visitors to his companies would have to "check their Apple devices at the door," where they would be stored in a "Faraday cage" – a structure that blocks electromagnetic fields.

"If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my company. That is an unacceptable security violation," Musk declared.

The new integration will see Siri equipped with GPT-4, the latest iteration of the famous chatbot.

Some users have remarked that GPT-4 sounds reminiscent of Scarlett Johansson's character in the movie "Her."

Prior to Musk's critical post, Apple assured its users that unlike direct usage of ChatGPT on OpenAI's platform, users' private information and queries would not be logged or stored.

This extensive AI integration across Apple's software, branded as "Apple Intelligence," includes AI-summarized documents in Mail and Notes, an image-generating AI called "Image Playground," and ChatGPT's integration with Siri.
