Parliament Parliament resumes today

Ghana's Parliament will reconvene today, Tuesday, June 11, for the second meeting of the Fourth Session.

The House had been adjourned abruptly by Speaker Alban Bagbin on March 20, 2024, following an extensive response to a letter from the Presidency.

The letter had cautioned Parliament against transmitting the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly known as the anti-gay bill, to the President for assent.

On May 3, 2024, the Majority Caucus petitioned the Speaker for an urgent reconvening to address essential government business. Key items on the agenda include the adoption of the Thirty-Fourth Report of the Appointments Committee and a motion on additional financing.

A letter from the Office of the Speaker has officially recalled Members of Parliament from recess, with proceedings set to commence today.
