Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has expressed his disappointment and anger over an audio recording of a phone conversation between Attorney General Godfred Dame and businessman Richard Jakpa, who is the third accused in the ongoing trial of Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

The case involves an alleged financial loss of €2.37 million to the state due to a deal to purchase 200 ambulances for Ghana between 2014 and 2016.

In a heated discussion on the Good Morning Ghana program on May 29, 2024, Kwesi Pratt Jnr condemned the action of the Attorney General as revealed in the tape.

He described Dame's behaviour as a blemish on the country's justice system and indefensible.

"I am sick already. I'm really feeling sick. After this, how can anybody have confidence in the system that we run today? I'm so embarrassed, I'm ashamed," Mr. Pratt exclaimed.

"For the Attorney General to call an accused person and to tell the accused person that 'I'm going to travel, I don't want to be in court so you, the accused person, get a fake medical report and present it to the court so that the trial would not come on and I would have the opportunity to travel.' My goodness," he added, visibly distressed.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr. urged the public to focus on the serious implications of the Attorney General's actions rather than the ambulance case.

"Forget the ambulance case, forget everything else and concentrate on this one. Where would this be tolerated? Where in the world would this be tolerated? Who in his right conscience can defend this? I don't know what to say. This is so mind-boggling," he lamented.

The journalist highlighted that the tape quells the claim by the Attorney General's office that Godfred Dame was ambushed by Jakpa at the residence of Supreme Court judge, Justice Yonny Kulendi.

According to Pratt, the recording clearly shows that both men had agreed to meet there.

He further noted that Dame's interactions with Jakpa, who is accused of a crime, without his lawyer present, were illegal and highly unethical.

Hmm, Ghana. Recording, if true, The Attorney General, Yeboah Dame, should step down.
