Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on the people of the Volta Region to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Ahiagbah emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has a comprehensive plan to develop the region, including the establishment of free zones in the border town of Aflao, within the Ketu South Constituency.

Describing the proposed Free Zone enclave as a transformative initiative, Ahiagbah highlighted its potential to boost economic activity, create jobs, and increase regional export production.

He took to his X platform to make the case for Bawumia, stating, “Volta must support Bawumia and reject Mahama. Bawumia’s leadership will boost economic activity, create more jobs, and increase regional export production.”

Ahiagbah further elaborated on Dr. Bawumia’s vision, pointing out that the Vice President plans to establish Special Economic Zones or free zones in key border towns, including Aflao.

“A Free Zone enclave in the Volta Region is a game-changer, but NDC-Mahama has no such plans for the Volta Region,” he said.

Questioning the plans of former President John Dramani Mahama for the Volta Region, Ahiagbah challenged the electorate to consider the development proposals when casting their votes in 2024.

“What is former President Mahama’s vision or plan for the Volta Region? The development of the Volta Region will inform our votes in 2024 and not sentiment,” he asserted.

The Volta Region has historically shown strong support for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), as reflected in its voting patterns.

However, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, like his predecessors in the NPP, aims to shift this trend and secure support from the region.
