Celebrated Ghanaian journalist and editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has indicated that he is embarrassed after listening to the audio recording of the alleged conversation between Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame and Richard Jakpa, the third accused person in the ambulance purchase trial.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) at a press conference on Tuesday, May 28, made the audio recording public.

In the recording that has since gone viral, the Attorney General attempts to convince Richard Jakpa to secure a fake medical report to back how he wants the case to proceed.

Speaking in a discussion on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Kwesi Pratt Jnr said he felt ashamed after listening to the audio.

According to him, the conduct of the Attorney General is mind-boggling, adding that the audio will affect the confidence Ghanaians have in the court system.

“I’m feeling sick already. To be honest with you I’m really feeling sick. After this, how can anybody have confidence in the system that we run today? I’m so embarrassed, I’m ashamed. For the Attorney General to call an accused person and to tell the accused person that I’m going to travel, I don’t want to be in court so you the accused person, get a fake medical report, present it to the court so that the trial will not come on so that I will have the opportunity to travel.

“My goodness! Forget the ambulance case, forget everything else and concentrate on this one. Where in the world will this be tolerated? Who in his right conscience can defend this? This is so mind-boggling,” Kwesi Pratt Jnr bemoaned.

He further indicated that after carefully listening to the recording, he does not see how one can conclude that it is doctored.

He said he feels pity for the Attorney General who has risen to the top through hard work but is now throwing all that away.
