Nana Kwame Bediako launches crowdfunding campaign to avoid political favors
Leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, has announced his decision to crowdfund his campaign to avoid political favors.
Bediako asserts that this approach is crucial for his political integrity, as it prevents candidates from becoming beholden to influential donors after winning elections.
“I want Ghanaians to know that I didn't seek funding from individuals who might later demand favors if I become president. I aim to govern the nation free from such obligations,” Bediako stated during an interview on Accra-based Citi FM.
He emphasized the importance of direct public funding, stating, “I want to govern because the nation has chosen me, not because I owe favors. This is why I initiated the donation process. For the first time, I want people to support a candidate without expecting financial gain in return, which is akin to selling your soul to politicians.”
Bediako believes this approach can change the political landscape, particularly among the youth, who form the largest demographic in Ghana. “If the youth adopt this practice, it will lead to a significant shift, setting a precedent for future generations,” he said.
By initiating this crowdfunding campaign, Bediako aims to demonstrate his commitment to responsibility and accountability to the nation.
