Election 2024: It’s only God who select leaders; not men – Bawumia

Headlines Election 2024: Its only God who select leaders; not men – Bawumia

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stressed that no man can stop him from becoming president of Ghana if it is the will of God.

Speaking during a meeting with Clergy in the Savannah region as part of his campaign tour, the Vice President said he does not doubt in his mind that it is God who selects leaders.

He stated that he is looking up to God to lead him to win the presidential election on December 7.

“I have one clear understanding and that is it's only God who selects leaders. It is not men. It’s only God who selects leaders. The holy Bible says unless the Lord builds the house they will Labour in vain. Those that build it,” Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said.

The flagbearer of the NPP continued, “And so that has always been a guiding principle because of you look at it when I was contesting for flagbearer many people said it wasn’t going to happen. They said the NPP has never chosen someone from the North to lead them but I said if it’s the will of God it will happen. We went for the election and with the will of God I was elected by the highest margin of any first-time candidate in the NPP.”

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his address said although many doubt him because of his background, he is optimistic that he will become president of Ghana.

“A very good friend of mine asked me can anything good come from Walewale and I said yes if it’s the will of God then something good can come out from Walewale,” Dr. Bawumia said.

The Vice President has already visited eight regions in the last couple of weeks.

He is expected to visit all 16 regions before bringing the first round of his campaign for president to an end.
