The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama has revealed that his life and that of his family are in danger due to the public frustrations over the country's persistent power cuts.

Ghanaians have been complaining bitterly about the erratic power supply popularly called 'dumsor'.

In an interview with Accra-based JoyNews on Monday, March 4, Mr Mahama expressed frustration at how the job has put his personal security at risk.

“Doing this job is not the easiest thing. Your life is being threatened, and to put the lives of your children and family in limbo it's not fair. And these are things that have been happening to me," he said.

While seeking to address the concerns, Mr Mahama said he has been unfairly targeted.

"It is always when people are complaining that somebody has taken an amount of money or something has been moved, it is not fair. Get the facts right," he stated.

The ECG boss further lamented that unverified allegations are spreading rapidly in the country.

“We're getting to a point in this country, where waking up in the morning and brandishing things that are not true is the order of the day, and that is not fair," Mr Mahama added.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians are demanding a load-shedding timetable to manage their social and economic lives.
