Over 13,000 newly trained teachers from Colleges of Education have been deployed across Ghana to undertake their mandatory one-year national service, the National Service Scheme (NSS) has announced.
In a press release issued on Monday, March 4, the NSS said it has deployed the 13,516 teachers to basic and secondary schools nationwide to assist in educating the next generation of Ghanaians.
Ag. Director of Corporate Affairs at the NSS, Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr. said "All Service Personnel in this category are therefore required to log onto www.nss.gov.gh on the Scheme’s website to check their placements and then proceed to the various NSS Regional Secretariats to complete the registration process."
He added that registration for the fresh teachers begins this coming Friday, March 8, at all NSS centers.
The deployment of over 13,000 newly qualified teachers comes at a time of urgent need to boost human resource capacity in the country’s education sector.
The one-year national service is hoped to provide valuable on-the-job experience for the young teachers while helping to address resource gaps in schools.
