President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has acknowledged that the country's economic crisis in the last few years greatly affected his government.
Delivering his State of the Nation Address on Tuesday, February 27, the President said thanks to the hard work of his government, the country is healing from the bruises it suffered.
He said Ghana is now in a position to face tomorrow in confidence, stressing that the Ghanaian spirit of facing every challenge will always spur the country on.
“Mr. Speaker, we stumbled, but we are rising again. We were bruised, but we are healing. We have recovered our footing. We have dusted ourselves off, and now we face tomorrow with confidence,” President Akufo-Addo said in his address.
He continued, “Every day we pray and hope that adversity may spare our families, our communities and our dear nation. But should we be confronted by misfortune; we must face it like people with a proud history who fight and do not flee. Yenim ko; yen nim adwane. That is the Ghanaian spirit. That is our armour and our shield. This is our ethos.”
In his address, President Akufo-Addo said Ghana just like all West African countries can no longer take the territorial integrity of the country for granted.
He said Ghana’s peace and security has not happened by chance but through deliberate policy and planning on the part of Government, and a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of our security services to keep our country safe and secure.
“Government is determined to do all it can to ensure there is security in every inch of the territory of our country, but it also is very much up to the citizens to help create the needed atmosphere, and I am, thus, appealing to all citizens to take the See Something, Say Something campaign of the Ministry of National Security very seriously,” President Akufo-Addo said.
