NDC Set the Criminal Precedent of Stealing State-Owned Houses

NDC Set the Criminal Precedent of Stealing State-Owned Houses
27.02.2024 LISTEN

It has become commonplace, these days, for the leadership of the country’s main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to look into the mirror and pretend to be seeing images of their main political opponents of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). This weird kind of collective self-projection obviously comes from the pathological inability of the Rawlings’ Posse, presently the Mahama and the Asiedu-Nketia Posse, to humbly and remorsefully come to terms with the morally inescapable fact that the much-vaunted Rawlings’ Revolution, which pontifically foregrounded “Probity, Accountability, Transparency and Justice” as its credo or mantra was, indubitably, all about smoke and mirrors, as Americans hereabouts are wont to say.

For, in the end, after brutally and mercilessly slaughtering such benign military dictators and junta leaders as Generals Akwasi Amankwaa Afrifa, Kwasi Kutu Acheampong and George Yaw Boakye, to name only a handful, by the time that the proverbial dust had finally settled, it was the Rawlings’ Posse that was rapaciously cannibalizing and privatizing Ghanaian taxpayer-owned real-estate in the name of the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC). Which is precisely what they mean by the self-righteous terminology of “National Defense.” And by the way, not very long ago, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda was widely reported to have told his people that his primary objective for fighting to overthrow General Idi Amin Dada, was to gain direct access to the perks and privileges that came with the assumption of the august mantle of national leadership, and not, as it is erroneously and widely believed, that is, because the former guerrilla-war commander was eager to liberate the suffering masses of Uganda.

Which was also precisely why not very long ago, when House Speaker Alban S K Bagbin, the former “NDC Parliamentary Methuselah” attempted to royally embarrass the present Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party by mischievously and, as it shortly turned out, mendaciously claiming that the official bungalow in which he presently lives had been sold on the cheap to some building contractor or a nondescript realtor without any advance notification for him to evacuate the premises, this writer could not help but disdainfully recall that boomerang moment of truth, when these shameless and unconscionable “Apostles of Revolution” launched an open season of the “Donkomization” of state-owned properties, in the cynical name of the “Massive Gains of the Rawlings’ Revolution,” to themselves and their cronies.

No wonder then that this was the reason why in the auspicious aftermath of the “Tsunamistical” defeat of an incumbent President John “Ford Expedition Payola” Dramani Mahama, the Bole-Bamboi native, from the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, the epic loser of the 2016 Presidential Election, felt the brazen and the imperious sense of entitlement to demand to be gifted the official residence of the Vice-President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana, the very official bungalow bequeathed Kwame Gonja by a two-term outgoing Vice-President Aliu Mahama, late.

And yet, unconscionable propaganda touts like Mr. Samuel “Sammy” Gyamfi, rebaptized and reconfirmed as the National Information Officer of the National Democratic Congress – he used to be called the Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress – would have Ghanaian citizens and voters believe that it is the leaders of the Kyebi or the Akyem-Abuakwa Mafia, so-called, who have been doing all the stealing of our common wealth. I suppose it was in direct response to such brazen and the kleptocratic sense of entitlement to our common wealth or state-owned properties, that so infuriated New Crusading Guide newspaper Editor and Publisher Mr. Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako to poignantly remind Speaker Bagbin and the rest of the faux-socialist hoodlum pack of “Political Galamseyers” of that moment, during the Red-Hot Summer of June 2015, when the taxpayer-purchased official residence of the Clerk of Ghana’s Parliament was criminally and, perhaps, even treasonously sold to a private real-estate developer on the cheap for approximately GH₡600,000 (Approximately $48,000 USD), completely on the blind side of the members of the august House of our National Assembly, the statutorily invested custodians of our commonwealth.

On the latter count must also be promptly recalled that the Sitting President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana at the time was none other than Mr. John “European Airbus Payola” Dramani Mahama, the same irredeemable Tribal-Nationalist Politician who invented the globally infamous Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) Gravy Train, of which he was also the Driver, Conductor and Ticket Collector, and which was supposed to rapidly facilitate the “Regional Catch-Up Development” of the northern half of the country with its relatively more economically advanced Akan-dominated southern half or counterpart (See “Who ‘Sold’ Clerk of Parliament’s Residence in 2015? – Kweku Baako Malik Provides Details” Ghanaweb.com 11/27/23).

This is rather ironic because under the watch and tenure of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, it was the now-Speaker Bagbin who was the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing. One would have expected that a cut delivered so close to home, as it were, would almost immediately have piqued or arrested the attention of the then First- or Second-Deputy Speaker of Parliament. But, Hell, No! Not Mr. Alban S K Bagbin. Among the Akan, there a common wise saying that runs as follows: “That which often negatively affects one’s neighbor but not oneself, might just as well be affecting a tree.”

In 2015, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources under whose purview or jurisdiction, very likely in overlapping concert with the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, the Parliamentary Clerk’s Official Residence was so treasonously sold to the aforesaid private developer or building contractor, was very likely Mr. Inusah Fuseini, the voluntarily retired former NDC-Member of Parliament for Tamale-Central Constituency, in the Northern Regional Capital, and a front-row member of the Ali Baba hoodlum pack of double-salary drawing Mahama cabinet appointees. Within the short span of just four-and-half years, Mr. Fuseini would hold at least three cabinet portfolios, including Minister for Road Transport, if Yours Truly recalls accurately.

Not surprisingly, Mr. Fuseini, whose son is also currently serving a medium-term prison sentence for fraud, ride here in the United States of America, has recently been making some peevish noises about the twice-defeated Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” Dramani Mahama’s being the candidate to beat in the 2024 Presidential Election. With morally reprehensible touts like Inusah Fuseini, why must any progressive-thinking Ghanaian citizen vehemently protest the widely purported Akufo-Addo coronation of the twice-triumphant Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia as Ghana’s next President, as the charlatanic likes of Martin A B K Amidu would have us do?
