Former President and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is set to host a policy dialogue to help shape the party's 2024 election manifesto.
The two-day dialogue beginning on Thursday, February 22, in the Eastern Region will bring together over 200 experts from the NDC and policy think tank Social Democratic LAB to discuss priority policy proposals.
Areas of focus include transforming Ghana's economy to support a "24-hour economy" with efficient round-the-clock activity.
According to a press statement dated February 21, the dialogue "will propel grounds for a strategic, efficient and lean Government come January 2025."
The statement noted that the dialogue is "in preparation towards the 2024 Manifesto development process."
The NDC leader will address participants on the final day to summarize discussions on Friday, February 23.
The NDC lost presidential elections in 2016 and 2020 but remains Ghana's largest opposition party.
Going into the 2024 polls, the party has vowed to wrestle power from the governing NPP who aim to secure a third consecutive victory—the first of its kind in the country since the inception of the 4th Republic.
