National Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, says Ghanaians must vote for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December polls to protect the free Senior High School policy from potential cancellation by former President John Mahama.
In a post via X on Wednesday, February 21, the NPP spokesperson asserted that a Bawumia presidency will defend and improve the free SHS program.
"A Bawumia Administration will protect and make progressive improvements to the Free SHS Policy. Mahama will cancel Free SHS before taking off for his requested four-year honeymoon," Ahiagbah stated.
He added that "Let's vote for Bawumia to preserve free SHS for our children."
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has promised a review of the free SHS policy, citing challenges including infrastructural deficits, inadequate teaching and learning materials, as well as double track system affecting academic quality.
Under the free SHS program, the NPP government absorbs fees, exam costs and utility bills for all public senior high school students.
While increasing access to secondary education, critics say poor planning and funding have compromised standards in some schools.

I told Ghanaians about the ignorance of Richard Ahiagbah. Find out for yourselves where it is written that Mahama will cancel "Free Education?" Mahama said that he would review "Free Education?" This is the kind of politicians that Ghanaians have depended on for almost 8 years to destroy the country, and now those responsible for the demise of the nation are asking you to vote for Bawumia.
