The transition of leadership at the Ministry of Works and Housing was completed on Tuesday evening as outgoing Minister Francis Asenso-Boakye formally handed over to incoming Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

In a major cabinet reshuffle last week, President Akufo-Addo moved Mr. Asenso-Boakye from Works and Housing to head the Ministry of Roads and Highways, replacing him with Mr. Oppong Nkrumah who was until then the Minister of Information.

Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah was replaced by his deputy Ms. Fatimatu Abubakar whilst Asenso Boakye replaced Kwasi Amoako Atta at the Roads Ministry.

At a brief handing-over ceremony on Tuesday evening, Mr. Asenso-Boakye thanked staff of the Works and Housing Ministry for their support during his tenure.

"I conveyed my deep appreciation to the management and staff of the Ministry for their support throughout my tenure and urged them to extend the same level of dedication and cooperation to the new Minister,” he wrote on Facebook.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah takes over the mandate of delivering the government's agenda in the critical sector including various ongoing infrastructural projects.

The transition of leadership at the two key ministries was part of President Akufo-Addo's strategy to reinvigorate his government's delivery of promises in his second term.

A total of 13 ministers and 10 deputy ministers were removed from their roles with new appointees awaiting parliamentary approval to allow them to begin work.
