The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced new dates for nominations ahead of the parliamentary primary in the Sunyani East constituency.
Nominations will open on February 14 and close on February 17, according to a statement signed by the party's General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua.
“We are pleased to announce the approved timelines for holding the primary election in Sunyani East," said Mr Kodua in the statement dated February 12.
Aspiring candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable application fee of GH¢3,000 and filing fee of GH¢35,000. However, women, youth and PWDs will enjoy a 50% rebate on filing fees.
"We want to provide a level playing field for all. No aspiring candidate will be denied the chance to contest," assured Mr Kodua.
Detailed rules and regulations to govern the primaries will also be made available to stakeholders, noted the statement.
The polls had previously been put on hold due to outstanding court issues regarding the electoral process in the constituency.
In May 2022, a High Court in Sunyani ordered the NPP to set aside the album used for constituency elections following an injunction by some aggrieved members.
The Court ruled that polling station executive and electoral area coordinator elections had not been conducted as required.
These, the court said, must take place before the constituency elections.
