The Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has stated that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot distance himself from President Nana Akufo-Addo's bad record despite attempts.
Dr. Bawumia, who is seeking to succeed Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s next President, said in a policy speech this week that he would do things differently from the current administration.
Bawumia announced plans to cancel the controversial e-levy and other taxes like VAT on electricity and betting tax if elected.
However, Ato Forson in a post via X on Friday, February 9, emphasized that the NPP flagbearer cannot dissociate himself from Akufo-Addo's policies and their effects on Ghanaians.
"As the Good Book rightly says in John 10:30 'I and my Father are one.' So do not worry, Mr. President, you and your beloved Alhaji Bawumia are indeed one and the same; He can never run away from your terrible record!" wrote Dr. Ato Forson.
Ghana's political terrain is currently heating up as the ruling NPP plans to hold on to power while the opposition NDC vows to snatch power to save citizens from the hardships caused by the “reckless Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.”
