The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is solidifying his presence and garnering support in the Northern Region as he tours the area to express gratitude for his election as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.
During his visit to Damongo, the Overlord of Gonja, Jire Kuunu-bi I, bestowed on Dr. Bawumia the title of Konukolewura (Chief of Unity).
He was described as a unifier and a promoter of harmony within the community.
In another event, the Paramount Chief of Wala Traditional Council, Naa Alhaji Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo VI, honoured Dr. Bawumia with the royal title "Meyiri" (builder of the house).
This title is to honour Bawumia's tireless efforts and commitment to supporting and developing communities within the region.
Adding to the list of titles, the Chief of the Wangara community, Masaba Fanyinama III, conferred on the Vice President the title of "Benkelemasa" (the one who unites).
Analysing the multiple titles and honours bestowed on the Vice President, former NDC Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs, expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia has much influence in the Northern Region.
Allotey Jacobs sees this as a positive sign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party gear up for the 2024 elections.
Reacting to this on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show, he stated, "For the Northern Region, Dr. Bawumia will cause surprises.”
