The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accepted a request from flagbearer, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia asking for more time before naming his running mate.
After winning the flagbearer election of the ruling party in November, party followers and opposition parties are waiting for the Vice President to name his running mate ahead of the 2024 General Election.
The Vice President was reportedly set to announce his running mate on Thursday, December 7.
Today, December 6, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia held a meeting with the NPP's National Executive Council.
At the meeting, he made a request to the council for more time to make additional consultations before naming his running mate for the 2024 General Election.
The council saw reason in his request and duly granted it.
Subsequently, the decision by the National Council of the NPP has been announced by party General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua.
Reports have it that Energy Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, and Chief of Staff at the President, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare are the people being considered as running mates by the Vice President.
His decision will be announced in January or February 2024.
