Why Bawumia Must Sideline Kennedy Agyapong

Feature Article Why Bawumia Must Sideline Kennedy Agyapong

In the best of worlds, I would have decided to let the proverbial sleeping dogs take their peaceful and needful rest, now that the politically unscrupulous and strategically mischievous Candidate “Akom-Prigozhin” Ohene Agyapong has been soundly defeated and definitively put in his place by the long-presumed 2024 Presidential Nominee of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). But we are not going to let the strategically bruising and politically nihilistic recent past be cavalierly swept under the carpet or casually let ago as if it really did not matter a bit, because it really matters a lot, if the most progressive Fourth-Republican political party establishment is to auspiciously retain power, come December 2024, and be able to continue the historically unprecedented social-intervention and the yeomanly national development projects which the New Patriotic Party has been doing on behalf of the overwhelming majority of the Ghanaian people.

Besides, if his political shenanigans and strategically traitorous activities in the leadup to the NPP’s 2024 Presidential-Election Primary are not promptly and instantaneously taken care of, they are highly likely to come back to even more vengefully and viciously haunt and threaten the even greater interests and aspirations of the Ghanaian people in the runup to next year’s historic and epochal General Election, in particular the December 2024 Presidential Election, in which the treasonous and the charlatanic leadership of the country’s main opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is determined to, once again, punitively reimpose its Serial and Dynastic twice-defeated, one-term former President, the pathologically payola prone and self-absorbed Mr. John “Ford Expedition Payola” Dramani Mahama, on us once more. We are here, in particular, alluding to the brazen overtures made by a politically suicidal and implacably desperate and groveling Candidate Ohene Agyapong towards Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” Dramani Mahama, in which the clear and unmistakable signal and import was that if the Assin-Central Parliamentary Representative could not have his way, then our beloved country would, somehow, be better off being sent back to the Dark Days of Dumsor.

It also goes without saying that the abominable return of the man who has already been twice seismically rejected by Ghanaian voters would also unquestionably mean the replunging of our beloved nation into not only Stygian or utter darkness for another four years, the peevishly bankrupt and cheap and harebrained talk of a 24-Hour Economy and all, notwithstanding. Now, what the foregoing means is that in so luridly and obscenely attempting to self-destructively neutralize the Presidential Nomination of Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia and reimpose Candidate-General John “Gnassingbe” Dramani Mahama for the third consecutive time on Ghanaian citizens, not only are the leaders of the roundly rejected faux-socialist and populist National Democratic Congress and Candidate Kennedy “Akom-Prigozhin” Ohene Agyapong inexcusably insulting the intelligence of the very people whose interests and aspirations they claim to better serve and represent than their counterparts of the ruling New Patriotic Party, these ungodly and godforsaken Apostles of Dumsor and their Machiavellian sidekick also want to, even worse, completely reverse the fast recovering economic development of our beloved Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana.

We also know that absolutely no national economic development policy agenda can thrive under the Stygian Darkness of Dumsor, as we all painfully witnessed and endured under the four-and-a-half years of the Mahama-led ragtag regime of the National Democratic Congress. Under the watch of the Bole-Bamboi native, from the Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, Ghanaian business owners were curtly advised to “diligently” and “wisely” devise their work schedules around the rhythmless vagaries of Dumsor, that is, the capriciously erratic supply of electricity. This, obviously, was not the well-thought advice of a leader with a progressive and a visionary sense of how to effectively, efficiently and healthily move the country forward on the global economic development agenda and ladder.

We also need to pointedly highlight the fact that when a surfeit of energy resources were contracted by the key and relevant operatives of the Mahama regime, it took the grossly incompetent form of what infamously became known as the “Take or Pay” contractual regimes or compacts, which meant that our leaders were so desperate to score cheap political points in their bid to having the lights steadily turned on albeit belatedly, so that they could be undeservedly retained at Jubilee House, that they had unwisely failed to critically read and examine what Americans call the “Contractual Fine Print.” In the process of such criminally illiterate and reckless attitude towards accessing adequate energy supply, the Mahama Posse ended up signing on to energy supply contracts well over and above the utile or the requisite capacity of the country. Now what this meant was that Ghanaian taxpayers had been forced to pay for energy supply which we really did not need and could not use! We had been used by foreign energy producers as a dumping ground for unusable and unsellable energy resources. That is how dumb the megalomaniacal and the kleptocratic Mahama Posse could really be.

You see, our contractual partners – actually neocolonialist overlords – had long figured well ahead of schedule and beforehand that our National Democratic Congress’ leaders could not tell the stark difference between a Hebraic and an Arabic script. It was just like sending out the elementary-school-level educated company driver to buy gasoline for the effective operation of a bus or a truck, when the messenger, who was supposed to be a vehicular expert or an experienced motorist, had absolutely no idea about the gasoline intake capacity of the bus or the truck whose tank s/he had been tasked to fill up with gas, as Americans are wont to say. In short, this was precisely what Ghanaian taxpayers and voters, in retrospect, got for rather impulsively and unwisely electing the Mahama regime in 2012. Now, being forced to pay for energy supplies Ghanaians did not really need and could also not comfortably afford is a major part of the reason why the country ended up, once again, flying first-class with cup-in-hand, that is our leaders, back to the office suites of the Cutthroat and Shylocky creditors of the twin Bretton-Woods establishments of the Washington, DC-based World Bank (IBRD) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), even as the New Patriotic Party’s Deputy Majority Leader, recently sought to explain to the Ghanaian people on the august floor of Parliament, following the largely lackluster presentation of the 2024 Budgetary Statement by the completely professionally exhausted Finance Minister, Mr. Kenneth Ofori-Atta.

Now, where Team Bawumia needs to conduct an in-depth research well ahead of the 2024 electioneering-campaign season regards the extent to which a diarrheal mouthed and pathologically self-absorbed Candidate Ohene Agyapong nihilistically or self-destructively and strategically inimically played against his own team in the leads up to both the August 26 and the November 4 presidential primaries, to the pernicious extent of scandalously going down on all fours, desperate supplicant fashion, and publicly apologizing to Candidate-General Gnassingbe Dramani Mahama for not having worked frantically enough to ensure the resonant success of the King of Dumsor in the 2020 Presidential Election. The fact of the matter is that those New Patriotic Party stalwarts who would rather have Candidate Akom-Prigozhin Ohene Agyapong effectively sidelined by Team Bawumia are actually telling the Honest-to-God Truth.

Unfortunately, however, an equally valid fact of the matter is that like the old story about the symbiotic and mutual affinity between the liver and the bile, the Assin-Central New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament has become a necessary and, to be certain, an almost indispensable Vidkun Quisling or even a Gatsha Buthelezi whose eerie or double-edged presence in the party keeps its sharp-shooting strategists smack on their toes. He clearly and studiously does the dirty work of the leadership of the National Democratic Congress, for whatever such dirty work may be worth for either party. But this smart-alecky shakedown artist plays the indispensable role of a preelection rehearsal director for the disturbingly laidback and scandalously complacent leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party. After all, hasn’t it often been said that: “Even the Devil has His Day of Fond Remembrance”?
