Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has said he expects to garner more votes from the Muslim community than Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who is a Muslim.
Speaking to party supporters during his 'Showdown Walk' in Kumasi on Saturday, September 30, 2023, Mr Agyapong asserted that he has been more active in the Muslim community than Vice President Bawumia.
He urged Dr. Bawumia to stop playing religious and tribal cards in the NPP's flagbearer race, emphasizing that he vowed never to engage in such politics himself.
However, Mr Agyapong cautioned that if the situation necessitates it, he is prepared to face them head-on.
"I will not play tribal politics, but if it becomes necessary, I will give them bombshells," Agyapong proclaimed, receiving enthusiastic cheers from his supporters.
He added, "They should stop that tribal politics."
Kennedy Agyapong is one of the four aspirants vying for the NPP's presidential candidacy in the upcoming November 4 presidential election, where the party's flagbearer for the 2024 general elections will be elected.
