The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the positioning of flagbearership aspirants on the ballot paper in the party's upcoming Presidential Primary on November 4.
Assin Central lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong will appear first followed by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Agricultural Minister Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and last on the ballot, former Bekwai MP, Francis Addai Nimo.
The ballot order was decided during an interactive session held on September 13, between the Presidential Elections Committee and the four contestants.
In a press statement released on Wednesday signed by Mr. William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, it stated, "On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, the Presidential Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party had a productive interactive session with the four contestants for the party's presidential primaries slated for Saturday, November 4, 2023."
Mr. Yamoah further stated, "The Elections Committee, in collaboration with officials from the Electoral Commission of Ghana, successfully conducted the balloting for the contestants."
The order is as follows:
1. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
2. Mahamudu Bawumia
3. Owusu Afriyie Akoto
4. Francis Addai-Nimoh
The Presidential Elections Committee emphasized that the contestants and the committee reached a consensus on the modalities for the conduct of the November 4 election which will be released later.
"The Presidential Elections Committee will release the details of the agreed guidelines and modalities for the November 4 election in due course," Mr. Yamoah said in the press release.
The committee expressed gratitude to the contestants for their continuous cooperation and collaboration throughout the process, highlighting the party's commitment to fairness and transparency in the election process.
The forthcoming elections on November 4 will determine who leads the NPP into the 2024 general elections.
