The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the International Movement of Catholic Students (Pax Romana), on Friday donated a number of items and 3 million cedis cash to the Saint Joseph's International school at Domeabra, near Kunsu in the Ahafo-Ano South district.

The items, which included clothes, provisions and stationery were part of the efforts of members of the organization to support the poor and needy in society.

Presenting them at a ceremony at the school, Mr Carl Koblavi, President of the Association, said Pax Romana, which was a benevolent organization, was much concerned about the plight of needy children in society.

He said the donation was therefore, to support the pupils to acquire quality education in order to become responsible citizens in future.

Sister Margeret Melliea Kunnel, headmistress of the school, who received the items, thanked the group for the gesture and urged them to continue to assist the pupils.

She said even though parents in the area had seen the need to send their children to school, poverty was making it difficult for them to provide the basic needs of their wards and pay their school fees.

Sister Kunnel said donations from benevolent organizations, would therefore help a lot to keep the children in school and appealed to other organizations to come to aid of the pupils.
