Dormaahene is an NDC person; he sings to NDC tune all the time – KT Hammond

The Minister of Trade and Industry, KT Hammond has hit out at Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II over his call for the discontinuation of the criminal trial of James Gyakye Quayson.

The state is pursuing a criminal case against the re-elected Assin North Member of Parliament.

After his re-election, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II proposed that the state should file a nolle prosequi to end the matter.

Speaking to Asempa FM in an interview, K T Hammond kicked against the meddling of chiefs in legal issues.

He argued that, the Dormaahene whp doubles as judge should have known better and stayed away from the Gyakye Quayson case, adding that he is not surprised because Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II is a known NDC sympathiser.

“Chiefs should not meddle in sensitive and legal issues like that. Dormaahene should stay away. Dormaahene is contempt of the judicial oath he swore as a judge.

“Dormaahene should not meddle the Gyakye Quayson case. As a judge, he has no right to do that,” KT Hammond said.

The MP for Adansi Asokwa added, “The law is not a respecter of anybody. Dormaahene should know that.

“Dormaahene is an NDC person, and we know that fact. He sings to the NDC tune all the time.”

Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament has served notice that it will not partake in any business of the house any day James Gyakye Quayson is set to appear in court.

The Caucus insists that the state must discontinue the trial of the re-elected Assin North MP.
