The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on its members, supporters and the general public to contribute financially to support its campaign in the upcoming Assin North by-election.

In a statement issued on June 7, the party's deputy general secretary in charge of administration Barbara Serwaa Asamoah said people who want to donate can send funds via Momo number 0598947709, effective Friday, June 9.

"Nothing is too big and nothing is too small," she added.

The Assin North seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court annulled the election of NDC MP James Gyakye Quayson, citing issues with his citizenship status at the time of filing his nomination in 2020.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeking to regain the seat it lost in the 2020 election, has elected Charles Opoku as its parliamentary candidate with an extensive campaign.

The NDC is also willing to retain its seat come June 27.

The party needs resources to match the NPP's campaign machinery as it seeks to win on the back of work done by the former MP.
