NPP Assin North: NPP govt hates you, they do not like you—Murtala Muhammed tell constituents
JUN 6, 2023 LISTEN

Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Murtala Mohammed has stated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has deliberately neglected the constituents of Assin North.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party should be blamed for the removal of their preferred candidate, James Gyakye Quayson from Parliament.

On TV3 New Day June 6, 2023, Murtala Mohammed discussing the Supreme Court's annulment of James Gyakye Quayson election as Member of Parliament for Assin North said NPP should be held accountable for refusing to allow Assin North Constituents to be represented in Parliament.

“I want to speak directly to the people of Assin North, and if their watching, I want to tell you that this government hates you, the NPP government hates you, they do not like you, if they like you, they wouldn’t deny you the opportunity to be represented, you elected Honorable Gyakye Quayson, he contested with other candidates and you knew the kind of person you wanted to represent you, you went in there some of you had sleepless night, you elected him to serve your interest, you elected him to represent you in parliament, you elected him to file questions for those questions to be addressed for the good of the people in Assin North, President Nana Addo and the NPP denied you that opportunity,” Murtala Mohammed stated.

The MP for Tamale Central believes that the Supreme Court should not be entirely blamed for Gyakye Quayson's removal.

“I am talking about events leading to the final decision, Mr Gyakye Quayson, this government took him to court, it was very clear that this government wanted him out and they did so because of the parochial interest of ensuring that the hung nature of Parliament was not disadvantageous to the outrageous policy decision of this government,” Murtala Mohammed said.
