Parliament, through its Clerk, declared the Assin North Parliamentary seat vacant following the Supreme Court’s ruling on James Gyakye Quayson to vacate the Assin North seat in Parliament.
In a press release yesterday, the Electoral Commission (EC) set the date to hold a by-election in Assin North on June 27.
Following this, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha at a press conference expressed confidence the NPP will secure a resounding victory.
“Very soon, there’ll be another by-election in the Assin North Constituency. We are ready for it…We’re going to Assin North and let me make a very bold declaration that we are going to win it! Hands down! We are going to win it hands down just like we did in the Kumawu by-election,” Mr Mustapha stated.
During a visit to the Assin North Constituency over the weekend, Mustapha said he was impressed by the remarkable development projects initiated by the current government.
The National Youth Organiser said, “This past weekend, I was in the Constituency and I was amazed at the level of development that this government has undertaken there. Superb first-class roads, beautiful astroturf, water projects, schools, just to mention but a few.”
Drawing inspiration from the strategies employed in previous successful elections, Mustapha stressed the importance of employing all strategies to win the elections.
He likened the party's preparation to a well-equipped army, fit to win any battle.
"The horses and chariots are prepared ahead for battle, and every good army will not relent or joke around its preparations ahead of D-day," Mustapha added.
