The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Richard Asiedu, has hinted at one of the arsenals the party is going into the June 27, 2023, Assin North by-election with is letting the good people of the area know how the New Patriotic Party (NPP) hounded Mr Jame Gyakye Quayson out of parliament.

“We’ll let the people know how the NPP mistreated one of their revered sons because of sheer politicking'' he noted.

According to him, the name Quayson is an institution in the Assin North Constituency and the people know that.

He explained that the late father of the former Member of Parliament for Assin North Constituency was the first District Chief Executive (DCE) of Assin in the administration of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president.

''It was under the reign of the father of the ousted MP that the area saw teacher-training schools among other relevant developments in the area,” he narrated.

He stressed that this by-election is against the Quayson family of Assin North and not the NDC.

''The people of Assin North know the impact of the Quayson family in the Assin North area,” he stressed.

Prof Asiedu said these in an interview with the host of the Ghana Yensom morning show, Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, June 1, 2023.

''We are going to win the seat and consolidate it for the NDC going into the 2024 general elections,” he said.

He noted that Mr Gyakye Quayson is a force to reckon with in the area, adding that the embattled MP won the seat with a vote more than that of former president John Dramani Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2020 general elections
