The Minority in Parliament is confident that it will be victorious in the upcoming by-election in the Assin North Constituency.
According to Builsa South MP Dr Clement Apaak, expelled James Gyakye Quayson will win the by-election to rejoin his colleague NDC MPs in Parliament.
“You can't keep a good man down! The people of Assin North will reward Hon. Quayson for his loyalty, sacrifices, and perseverance. He will be back to join us in the 8th Parliament to represent the people of Assin North. God will grant him Victory,” Dr Apaak said in a post on Twitter.
James Gyakye Quayson emerged as the MP-elect for Assin North at the end of the 2020 election.
He has been found guilty of contesting the election while holding dual citizenship.
As a result, the Supreme Court directed Parliament to expunge his name from its records.
In a letter to the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday, May 29, Parliament informed the commission that the Assin North parliamentary seat is officially vacant.
The EC will now make arrangements to hold a by-election in Assin North.
