THE CHIEF Executive Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC), Mr. Ernest Prince Oduro-Mensah has pledged his outfit's total support for baseball in the country.
At a baseball clinic in Tema last Saturday, which attracted members of the US baseball team on a Goodwill Tour, the NSC Boss revealed that: “There are disciplines which are sure medal winners, like baseball and so we shall give the sport the needed push to attain the desired results in future tournaments.”
He said the NSC is putting proper structures in place to rally behind the “lesser known sports” to stand tall on the continent to flow on the same line with soccer, boxing and athletics.
“We shall tap on your rich experience in baseball and continue to deepen our friendship as countries as the years roll by,” he told the US contingent.
Mr. Oduro-Mensah told the team that; “We shall count on you for assistance in our quest to make the game gain deeper roots in the country and beyond.”
The team, who will be meeting with the Vice President this week, donated baseball equipment worth $10,000 to the Ghanaian team.
In a baseball game, the Accra team triumphed over their Tema counterparts to lift the trophy, while the Tema emerged winners in the juvenile category.
