The Marketing Manager of Mercury FM, a Kumasi based radio station, was on Monday remanded in custody for a week for his alleged involvement in a robbery case in Accra.
Isaac Essuah will appear again on February 5, 2007.
He is said to have connived with a business partner Nana Duncan and five others now at large to rob a friend he accompanied to Accra to help clear some goods at the airport.
Isaac Essuah and his gang of robbers allegedly took Mr. Daniel Asamoah, Manager of King Poloo Guest House at Abrepokese in Kumasi to a house at Sakaman on January 18, 2007 and while leaving for the airport the men attacked him with knives and other objects in an attempt to take the money he carried on him.
He sustained deep cuts on his hands and legs.
The robbers also took away Mr. Asamoah's Ghanaian passport a mobile phone and an ATM card which they used to withdraw an amount of ¢10.8 million from his bank accounts.
The court presided over by Mrs Eugenia Atta-Sonno was informed that Mr. Asamoah decided to travel from Kumasi to Accra on January 18 to clear his goods when Essuah approached him that he had a classmate at the airport who could help him.
They set off at dawn from Kumasi and arrived at the Airport at about 4 a.m. but could not meet their helper. Essuah then asked Asamoah to accompany him to Sakaman to meet Duncan who he claimed was in a position to assist him clear the goods and he obliged.
On reaching Sakaman junction, they met Duncan, who had a brief chat with them.
Duncan then asked both Essuah and Asamoah to follow him to his house and just as they started walking, five men quickly surrounded Asamoah attacked him with knives and collected his bag which contained his passport and ATM card, jumped into a taxi cab and sped off.
The court was told that Essuah vanished from the scene while Duncan deliberately started crying. Asamoah who suspected foul play, quickly returned to Kumasi and reported the case to the police and the accused persons were later arrested.
Counsel for the accused persons told the court that they were not connected with the robbery and, therefore, should be granted bail.
